Configurations 2
Configurations was an attempt a while back, which I extracted sounds that trigger my nerves. It draws influences from both classical and jazz, and finds itself to emulate video game music. I decide to make it a musical style of my own and wrote Configurations 2.
The slow movements are mostly homophonic with various voices interweaved, while the fast sections are grounded by a repetitive rhythmic pulse, transition with varied rhythm patterns. Harmonically, it largely uses jazz harmonies, the concepts of constant structure and altered cadence, plus a pint of neo-tonality. Each instrument showcases swift moving lines that resemble improvisation.
This piece aims to create a contemporary sound that can represent the 21st century music. The entire concept is basically painting a fantasy that I cannot put in words.
“There is no given meaning or story in all Configurations. Maybe this is just a product of all the excitement and imagination or the mixture of emotions within my juvenile self.”
